Canopy’s Removal Prevention feature for Android devices stops any attempt to remove or disable Canopy without your permission.
During the Android installation process, Canopy will ask if you want to enable Removal Prevention. We strongly recommend enabling it so Canopy can protect your child as comprehensively as possible. Removal Prevention includes anti-tamper measures that prevent efforts to disable Canopy, such as deleting the app, turning off certain permissions, or resetting the device to factory settings.
If you choose not to enable Removal Prevention during the initial installation process, you can always do so later from the Canopy for Parents app or your Canopy web dashboard.
To enable Removal Prevention, please follow these steps:
- Open the Canopy for Parents app or log in to the Canopy web dashboard.
- Choose the profile of the child you want to enable Removal Prevention for. On the Canopy for Parents app, your child profiles will appear across the top of your home screen. On the Canopy web dashboard, they will appear along the left side of your screen.
- If you’re on the Canopy for Parents app, tap the Protection Settings button. If you’re on the Canopy web dashboard, click Protection Settings.
- On the Settings tab, scroll to locate Removal Prevention and toggle the switch to the blue “on” position.
On LG devices, your child will be asked to download and install our LG Filtration Plugin which provides an additional layer of protection.
If you wish to remove Canopy from your child’s device later, you must disable Removal Prevention first. To do so, simply follow the same steps and turn the Removal Prevention switch to the gray “off” position.
